Like most students we all love secret scoops. We want to know what the exam looks like before we go for inside.
This is the best place to come. Please, you have to close the door gently behind you and very quietly…. remember to lock the door and be very quiet, as you tip toe down the hallway.
I want to show you a real secret, a great one. But first, you have to promise, you will not tell anyone. Serious pinky promise. Ok, let’s go…..
Ah, one more thing, you cannot bring your phone and all those electronic gadgets….it is a no no……
You cannot bring paper and pencil…. I want to show the real secret….
Begin with Registration at PearsonVUE
CompTIA: Project+ is administered at a PearsonVUE Testing Center around the globe. You have to register, pay and schedule when you want to take the exam.
As of the time I checked the CompTIA website it is $319.00 USD. You can also pay it in your local currency anywhere around the Globe.
There is no condition to registering for this exam, since you are confident that you will begin studying immediately after registration.
The exam is administered mostly in English language and Japanese. CompTIA is currently thinking of expanding the language base, but don’t quote me on that one, because I don’t know when.
“Going Under the Hood”
Now that we have passed the registration gate and schedule the exam, I will like to let you in on a few things.
The current CompTIA: Project+ exam has a code, it is PK0-004. Please don’t forget, P-K-0 0-0-4.
The exam is multiple choice. It is the one they will ask you one question and then they will give you 4-8 options, in some cases they will ask you to pick one answer, or in another 2 answers. Or yet another question; 3 answers, depending on what domain the question is testing.
Some of the questions have diagrams, in one case they may ask you to use your mouse to drag and drop. In another case they may test your understanding of how to schedule or network diagram analysis.
There are usually 95 to 100 questions on the PK0-004 exam.
CompTIA will want you to complete the exam in 90 minutes…. Let’ just say, one hour and thirty minutes for 100 questions.
You think that time is not enough for 100 questions. I hear you…. but surprisingly, most of my students have always finished ahead of time and even have the time left to revise our exam questions and answers before submitting and we all come out in flying colors.
Let me know if I am missing something, that I should also reveal…
Ah…. the passing grade, CompTIA rate the exam score on the scale of 100-900, don’t ask me what that means…. but you have to score from 710 upwards to see this final result – PASS!
I always tell my students; of the 100 questions, target getting all the 100 questions right; if at all possible, if you falter, be in the 80-85% range, you will still pass. And they always do…..I am very confident you will also pass very well too.
Now the Juicy Part…
This is the juicy part, the exam is divided into 4 domains, with the associated percentage tested.
You can also go here to register and download the real genuine exam objectives, scroll down the page and you will see a place to “Get Practice Questions & Exam Objectives”, input your first and last names with the exam code; PK0-004. You can download the exam objectives and a few sample questions and answers, to show you what the real exam will really look like…. this is our secret…..promise don’t tell anyone!
Domain 1 and 3 dominates the exams as the percentages indicated; because that is where the backbone of project management lies. That is 62% for you.
Domain 2 and 4 is just 38%, I usually tell my students you can have everything in these 2 domains, by the time you are done you can settle for 85% and your face beams with sweet smile when you walk out of the Test Center.
On the exam, none of the questions will tell you which domain you are answering, but with good and solid preparation you will be able to tell. But that should not be your focus.
Give all the questions same attention.
Please remember to answer all the questions……I will repeat again, remember to answer all the questions…it is very important, self-check before you hit the final submit button.
Did I miss anything…..well I know what you are talking about, I have a video that will give you all the details for free please check it out…..
Before you begin your exam when you are inside the Testing center, you will have to sign a non-disclosure agreement as a professional that you will not reveal the contents of this exam in any shape or form.
Now I know why I did not remember to tell you what questions is which on this exam?…..
