Introduction
Many candidates ask many questions when they have decided to embark on a certification journey. Just like high school and college tests, every student wants to meet someone who has gone through the “baptism of fire” that taken the exam.
Perhaps can provide insight whether the test is easy or hard. No doubt, you have done similar things.
In all of our academic experiences, one thing is clear, the test we prepared very well for, we passed. When our friends ask us how did it go? We are quick to respond, “very easy”.
The ones we did not understand or did not prepare very well, or not too competent in, we always come out complaining, “that test was tough”
To make life easier and be the student who had gone through the CompTIA: Project+ certification test before, I can tell you that the test is easy.
Obviously, you know why, because I prepared very well.
To help you on similar path, I will like to share 7 things you need to know and have in order to pass CompTIA: Project+.
The first rule to every successful accomplishment is determination. You must be determined to succeed as a project management professional.
Remember, you will be working on projects you cannot predict their final outcome, but your determination to excel no matter the situation will set you up for success.
The first rule for every aspiring professional is determination. Setting out to prepare for the CompTIA: Project+, you must be determined to study and pass the test.
The motivation for this determination is that you will improve your leadership quality, you will improve your ability to solve simple to complex problems and it will help you even in your daily life.
Above all, pay raise and promotion comes as compensation for this determination. Now your determination on difficult task becomes much easier.
Because you are very determined!
After a strong determination, you need to set goals, before you start your exam preparation. The goal I set was simple. “I must pass this CompTIA: Project+”.
Then I made sure I keep to the goal by researching the right study materials after reviewing the exam objectives and keeping the goal alive for three months until I passed the exam.
Your “after” goal should be what will you do with the acquired knowledge, skills and the certification. You must endeavor to apply the knowledge in your professional career. Some of the skills you will acquire from training alone includes ability to budget, scheduling, forecasting, planning and effective communication, just to name few.
Your goal to apply these skills efficiently will improve your professionalism and operational efficiency on the job.
It will also show in your daily living as a goal and result oriented individual.
You must have heard this proverb before “time is money, use it wisely”.
Time is very important when you are preparing for Project+ certification exam.
Don’t prolong your studying and then delay sitting for the test.
See opportunity in front of yourself and capitalize on it.
Depending on your schedule, you should set a window of at least 3 months, to study, prepare and pass this exam.
First month study the materials, attend the class to reinforce the content and spend the last 3-4 weeks practicing exam questions and revising them at the same time.
Within this window of time, your average score would have increased and the moment you are averaging 85-90% for the last one or two weeks, your chance of passing the exam become very strong.
So, look at your calendar, set aside time and be determined to pass CompTIA: Project+
Good planning is very important when you are preparing for this type of certification. You should live a balanced life and still be happy.
Don’t burn several late-night candles, reading all night without sleeping because of fear. Enjoy your preparation through good planning.
Acquire the right study materials and get a notebook and a dependable practice question and answer. If possible, a study guide (By the way, Project Managers Academy will offer one for free when you sign up for the training).
Plan to read consistently each day; set aside one to two hours aside each day and be consistent with it. This way you will complete the reading materials in 7-10 days.
If you are like me, you might want to read it twice to remember much.
Attend online class, bootcamp, college preparatory which ever you can afford and commit to.
Be consistent with your plan and you will be amazed at the results.
We are all familiar with the common sayings “it is good to work smart but not hard”. The same applies to CompTIA: Project+ certification preparation.
You want to study smart but not hard.
You will remember your college professor in the first day of class, explaining to the class how you should study to remember.
The same concept has not changed. It is a tested technique and I use it all the time. In my training classes, that is first thing I always emphasize.
This is because, most of the students pursuing this certification are busy professionals, so I like to show them, even though some of them still use the study technique.
It is called S-Q-3R; it works all the time; in another article I will break it down so you can embrace it. Psychologist that conducted test on it says it helps reader remember 85-90% of what they have ready after months they close such book.
Don’t you think you need to master such an effective technique?
It will be your foundation for effective study strategy
Every farmer is always encouraged to plough with good tool for improved yield.
The same principle still works for students planning to study for CompTIA: Project+. There are tons of materials out there, you don’t want to waste money buying everything, because you will not have the time to read them all.
The wise king Solomon even discouraged us from acquiring too many books.
Research effective study materials for this certification, it is good to ask those who have passed the exam to share the textbook they used in their preparation.
You should be selective in making the best choice.
At the same time, you should not be spending too much, please be smart.
In Project Managers Academy classes, our students are guided in their choices explaining the benefits and shortcomings of each study material.
With a dependable study material and support systems – a team that continue to push you in the direction of your goal, you are not far from attaining your successful results.
Be prepared for the exam. Just like a soldier prepares for war.
Or just like an athlete prepares for a game.
Study smart, study practice questions and study guides and make the best use of your time in preparing.
Most students often think that they pass only in the exam hall or Prometric Centers, I will say with several q and a practice session, improves your chances to be successful on this certification examination.
It is good to register ahead of time at the PearsonVUE before you start studying. This might sound crazy, but there is a psychological benefit to it. If you are taking the exam; say in March, but you register in January, your determination and focus become so sharp that every plan you lay out will be successfully implemented because of the preparation you have committed yourself to be effective at every opportunity.
Through your determination you will be able to share your experience with others by telling them same thing, as you study smart, you will be successful.
In Conclusion
Now you have seen the seven things that helped me pass the exam, if I can do it, you too can even surpass me.
All you need is determination that you will pass this exam. Match your determination by setting before and after goals.
Make the best use of your time…. remember time waits for no one.
Have a good plan in place with effective study strategy matched with dependable study materials and plans and lastly set your heart on passing this certification, by following these steps, you are very much closer to your goal than you can imagine.
